The first Alliance was founded in Paris on July 21, 1883 by a group of eminent men, including the scientist Louis Pasteur, the diplomat Ferdinand de Lesseps, the writers Jules Verne and Ernest Renan, and the publisher Armand Colin.

Alliance Française (AF) supported by the French Foreign Office and one of the largest educational and cultural networks in the world with over 1000 Alliances in 135 countries, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote French language and culture outside France.It is more than a language school: bi-cultural centre promoting French as well as local artists, it is also a place of cross-cultural exchange and overall enrichment of the individual.

Intensive French Junior Certs and leaving Certs Preparation Weeks :

Can't afford one to one French grinds for your LC and JC teenager? Look no further and step into AFG, Alliance Française Galway Ltd , located at the Plaza Offices on the Headford rd above Argos and enrol him/her for our intensive JC and Leaving Cert French Oral prep, February 13th to 17th. The content of the course is especially designed to meet the requirements of the oral syllabus and includes a mock exam. Places in these classes are limited to a maximum of 8 students, ensuring the most beneficial learning experience facilitated by experienced French qualified native teachers.

13th to 17th February:

• Junior Certs: 1pm to 2.30pm --> €75

Non profit making organization,"AFG Alliance Française (Galway) Ltd " which is part of the Irish Alliances Françaises network and international AFs including more than 1000 AFs in 135 countries, aims to promote the French language and French culture within the Galwegian community, developing ties and partnerships with the different local organizations and businesses as well as with French overseas partners.

AFG offers workshops bridging French classes (AF frame taught through context) and culture, bringing the language alive and giving it a purpose whilst achieving academic results through exams and diplomas accredited by the Ministry of National Education and recognized at a worldwide level in the form of the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFL).

More than just a French school, it allows students  to get a flavor for arts, with the meeting of local and international artists, food, business, games for 2 years old to 77+++ with the program "French for Fun"…discussing the differences and similarities of the countries and all in good humor please!
