Jean Mac Sorley

Artist's statement : "My practise is process based. I currently work by taking a blank canvas and I then work intuitively with colour and allow imagery to unfold. This can be from an inner feeling or mood (sometimes outer) and working with my imagination, sometimes pulling out forms - following an impulse and working with that energy. The resulting work can be both abstract and figurative. My work acts as a visual playground, allowing for play of the eye, mind and imagination and can evoke an emotional response."

Kay Creedon

Denis Hogan - Artist and designer (Fine Art)

‘You are what your deepest desire is As your desire is, so is your will As your will is, so is your destiny’   Galway artist, Denise Hogan has held a desire to live and work as an artist for as long as she can remember.  ‘You ARE what your dreams are… You cannot escape them, you may only choose to bury them or strive to support them’.  Through the establishment of her own artistic career and the birth of her teaching and commission business she has achieved that desire.

A graduate of GMIT in Art and Design, (Print and Paint), Denise presents a mixture of paintings, prints and art on glass at her new home studio & gallery. Denise’s works have been described as having ‘a sinuous grace and unmistakable energy’ Producing colourful and enigmatic works of art, she believes that the materials she uses in her work dictate its flow.

Her prints and watercolours have a ‘luminosity that recalls the sacred image, the icon, the visible focus of the energy that shapes form and is, at the same time, shaped by it.’  Her stunning designs on crystal tableware are inspired by her studies in Celtic mythology and by the pure and simple beauty of nature.   Situated in Galway City, Denise runs a full range of fine art  & glasspainting classes from her home studio and gallery.
